Description of Job Work Environment: This position is Full-time, is Hybrid (Remote/Home Office w/requirement to report to Work location per business needs). Position Summary: This position oversees the day-to-day management and coordination of alternative dispute resolution options, including IDEA mediation and IEP facilitation within the Colorado Department of Education Office of Special Education. The final salary is anticipated to fall within the posted salary range, however, could be higher or lower depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other qualifications of the preferred candidate while considering internal equity. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day implementation and coordination of IEP facilitation and IDEA mediation processes. Coordinate mediation requests and manage the mediation process: Educate stakeholders about mediation and develop outreach plan to improve equity in use of mediation. Process requests to mediate, determine IDEA issues, and confirm agreement to mediate for each party. Assign and coordinate mediation requests with contract mediators. Manage mediation case files, database, outcome reports, and processing/approval of invoices; Develop and manage mediation contracts, including the negotiation of terms with accounting/purchasing, monitoring compliance of deliverables, renewals and closeouts; and Collect, analyze, and report mediation activity required by OSEP for annual submission of SPP/APR. Coordinate IEP facilitation requests: Process requests for facilitation and determine IDEA issues; Confirm agreement of parties to participate in facilitation; and Assign and coordinate facilitators to meet requests. In collaboration with Dispute Resolution Supervisor, prepare annual Dispute Resolution data report to OSEP for mediation activity. Coordinate with Dispute Resolution Team and Coordinator for mediation and facilitation connected to state or due process complaint, to include: Communication regarding scheduling of mediation to relevant Dispute Resolution staff, and Reporting outcome of mediation to designated Dispute Resolution staff. In collaboration with ADR Supervisor and DR Supervisor, participate in evaluation and improvement activities in mediation and facilitation. Other duties as assigned.
