The IDB recognizes this need and the challenges of transitioning to this new paradigm. The Climate Change Solutions Division’s mandate is to assist our clients in addressing these challenges. The Division is part of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CSD) Sector within the IDB’s Vice-Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS). Our activities include lending operations, technical assistance, and knowledge generation related to territorial development, sustainable cities, biodiversity, environment, disaster risk management, and climate change. We work cross-sectorally with other VPS sectors, country departments, and regional offices, requiring extensive collaboration across the IDB Group. This position reports to the Sector Manager for CSD. What you will do Support the Bank's strategy and actions related to climate and resiliency. Advise IDB Management on developing climate-resilient strategies, instruments, and approaches responsive to the needs of borrowing countries. Integrate climate mitigation and adaptation into Bank operations, programming, and policies in collaboration with other IDB units. Provide strategic advice and coordinate team participation in the preparation and execution of Bank operations, policy dialogues, capacity-building, and analytical work. Act as a trusted advisor to senior government officials on climate and resiliency issues. Lead high-quality research and knowledge work on climate topics, focusing on increasing countries’ climate resilience. Enhance the Bank’s participation in climate-focused networks and partnerships with relevant institutions. Represent the IDB at MDB climate forums and other international fora in coordination with the Office of the Special Advisor on Climate Change. Lead, manage, coach, and mentor interdisciplinary, multicultural teams working on climate issues, including staff and consultants in field offices. Promote ethical behavior and inclusive workplace practices. What you will need Education: Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in engineering, environmental science, economics, public policy, or related fields with specialization in climate-relevant areas. Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience. Strong network of experts familiar with the Region and multi-lateral development operations. Proven experience in Latin America and/or the Caribbean is highly preferred. Cultural sensitivity and experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams. Leadership, technical expertise, integrity, and high ethical standards. Excellent social and communication skills for effective collaboration with senior leaders and partners across sectors and countries. Proven project management skills including leadership, planning, negotiation, and critical thinking. Collaborative leadership style that inspires trust and promotes fairness and respect. Ability to interpret and apply policies effectively. Experience in setting performance standards and coaching teams. Languages Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is highly desired. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.
