Job Description

The Junior Multimedia Designer is responsible for supporting the creation, design, capture, and production of a wide range of content for Hy-Vee’s social marketing channels. This role’s primary mediums include video production, photography, and design for use across social and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a passion for producing high-quality, engaging content from concept through final execution. This individual should be highly organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong skills in both video and design, appreciate a well-crafted transition sequence, and feel comfortable working behind—and occasionally in front of—the camera. Primary duties include supporting the end-to-end creation of organic social media content, capturing video and photo content, serving as on-camera talent and voiceover as needed, executing fundamental video production techniques including lighting, sound, framing, and set-up, creating props and shopping for materials when needed, editing video content, retouching and formatting photo assets, applying conceptual thinking to express ideas through engaging design and content, managing the design process from start to finish, collaborating with managers and creative team members to ensure content aligns with brand standards and business objectives, applying brand guidelines consistently, working independently and within a team to meet project deliverables and timelines, submitting drafts for approval and revising designs as needed, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced creative environment. Secondary duties include performing other job-related duties and special projects as assigned. The role requires commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission, excellent organizational and communication skills, strong interest and hands-on experience in video production and editing, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, solid understanding of video production fundamentals, strong grasp of design principles, ability to manage multiple projects, collaborative and receptive to feedback, flexible and detail-oriented with strong visual storytelling skills, and active following of social media trends. Education and experience required include a Bachelor’s degree or BFA in Graphic Design, Visual Studies, or related field, 1–2 years of experience in a creative or multimedia production role, and a portfolio showcasing video and photo content creation and editing. The position is hybrid based at the HST location in Grimes, Iowa, with work performed in-office, from home, and on location as needed.
