POSITION: Marketing & Events Coordinator
REPORTS TO: President
I. NATURE AND EXTENT OF ASSIGNMENTS:
A. Basic Function: The Coordinator will organize and provide leadership in implementing programs and policies designed to support members while enhancing the economic stability and growth of The Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation.
B. Scope: The position will have direct responsibilities for marketing Chamber and Foundation programs and products, planning and executing events within prescribed budgets, and sales of Chamber programs and products. The position is also responsible for communications between the Chamber and its internal and external constituencies in coordination with the President. The Coordinator will serve as a staff liaison to sub-committees or working groups as assigned by the President.
C. Functions Performed:
1. Assists the President in the preparation of the program of action and budget items for marketing activities.
2. Prepares monthly status reports on the progress of events and marketing efforts.
3. Assists the Director of Member Engagement in the marketing and promotion of affinity programs for members. Duties will include coordinating promotional information and materials, incorporating them into Chamber publications and mailings, identifying targeted firms, and tracking member participation.
4. Identifies, plans, implements, and evaluates activities designed to provide membership interaction and meet the mission of the Chamber and its Foundation. Such activities include Business After Hours, seminars and workshops, the Annual Meeting, Holiday Open House, Golf Outing, K-12 Summit, Foundation youth programs, and Foundation adult programs, among others. Relevant committees are involved in the development of plans, programs, and budgets for these activities. Organizes and coordinates volunteers to implement activities.
5. Communicates information relating to Chamber events and initiatives to members and community through preparation of weekly electronic newsletters, bi-monthly Chamber mailings (ChamberPack), event flyers and invitations, website updates, press releases, and other online and print materials, including Business Matters as appropriate.
6. Coordinates various public relations materials and related ad sales for annual print materials such as the Membership Directory, area street map, quality of life book, Foundation program guide, EITC FAQ document, and other publications as may be developed.
7. Oversees the maintenance of the Foundation and the Chamber's internet presence, including the website, social media sites, and other internet features as may be developed. Has responsibility for regularly reviewing website material and making such changes and additions as may be appropriate and necessary. Conducts activities to sell advertising and other marketing opportunities related to the Chamber’s website, and .
8. The Coordinator will assist in the identification of member and stakeholder needs and in the preparation of a program of work designed to meet those needs. This will involve regular, frequent contact with individual members and constituent groups to ascertain issues of importance to those members and groups, ongoing evaluation of the program or work, making recommendations to the President for change as needed, and measuring the progress toward attainment of goals.
9. Encourages volunteer involvement in Chamber and Foundation programs and activities.
10. Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the President.
II. SUPERVISION AND FUNCTIONAL ASSISTANCE RECEIVED:
The President will provide day-to-day supervision of the individual as it relates to compliance with Chamber policy and the effectiveness of job performance.
The Coordinator will be expected to perform his/her responsibilities with a minimum of direct supervision. The Coordinator will work with assistance of other staff members, as required, in accomplishing work. The President provides functional cooperation and technical assistance when necessary and appropriate.
III. RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
The Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Chamber's and the Foundation’s marketing efforts, and coordinating with the Director of Member Engagement.
The Coordinator will have the authority to commit financial resources within the framework of the approved budgets of the Chamber and its Foundation, the program(s) of action approved by the respective Boards of Directors, and in collaboration with the President.
IV. REQUIRED SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, or related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with desktop publishing and website development software and concepts
• Familiarity with social media marketing
• Strong writing ability
• Ability to work with minimum direct supervision

Salary, non-exempt
VI. COMPENSATION STRUCTURE:
$40,000-$45,000
