Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant specializing in General Surgery for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in California. This 90-day assignment begins on 06/30/2025, with potential for extension through October 31, 2025. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working as a Surgical First Assistant, primarily focusing on General and Orthopedic surgeries, with occasional exposure to Bariatric, Vascular, Plastic, Head and Neck, limited Urology, and limited GYN cases. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4 weeks a month, with either a Day Shift from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or a Mid Day Shift from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This role involves exclusively OR work with no inpatient rounding.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Serve as a Surgical First Assistant in various surgical procedures
• Primarily assist in General and Orthopedic surgeries
• Provide assistance in specialized surgeries as needed (Bariatric, Vascular, Plastic, Head and Neck, Urology, GYN)
• Prepare patients for surgery and ensure proper positioning
• Assist surgeons during procedures by handling instruments, suturing, and managing surgical equipment
• Monitor patients' conditions during surgery and communicate any changes to the surgical team
• Participate in post-operative care and documentation
• Utilize Epic EMR for patient management and record-keeping
• Maintain a high standard of patient care and safety
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate and detailed surgical records
Additional Information:
• Must be licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in California
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Experience in general and orthopedic surgeries preferred
• Flexibility to work either day shift or mid-day shift
