Role Summary Lead technical sourcing , commercial development , and industrialization of Rivian's in-house manufacturing supply chain, increasing internal manufacturing capabilities through smart, effective CAPEX strategy creation and execution. This position will be based out of either our Palo Alto, CA location or remote in Georgia, with the expectation to be onsite at our Georgia manufacturing facility in the Atlanta area. Responsibilities Managing industrial automation/equipment supplier development and strategic relationships. Identifying technologies, suppliers, assessing capabilities, and creating sourcing plans with Rivian stakeholders. Building and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps. Leading strategic sourcing events, supplier interfacing, and resolving complex manufacturing issues. Steering contractual negotiations with suppliers, executing purchase agreements and statements of work. Supporting timely and efficient CAPEX design, execution, and lifecycle management of new factories and equipment projects with manufacturing engineering partners and cross-functional teams. Driving cost and commercial value negotiations with detailed data and analysis. Managing supplier and tiered supplier performance using first principles and key performance metrics. Monitoring CAPEX spend forecasts and risks with the Rivian Finance team, providing internal guidance for improvements. Collaborating closely with Program Management to support program requirements, ensuring adherence to build performance milestones, and tracking progress. Communicating directly with senior leadership on key strategic supplier and technology decisions. Creating should-cost models to support program budgets with cross-functional teams. Driving commercial and business decisions, including establishing technology investment roadmaps. Expanding and supporting planning of Rivian's global CAPEX supplier footprint. Qualifications Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business. 2-5 years of technical sourcing, capital project procurement, or similar experience. Experience managing commercial relationships in automotive, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing. Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing and industrialization technologies and suppliers. Analytical skills, technical literacy, and attention to detail for solving complex issues. Good interpersonal and communication skills, high integrity, and emotional IQ. Experience managing global projects and willingness to travel. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California-Based Applicants: $107,800 - $146,500. For Illinois/Michigan/Georgia: $98,500 - $123,100. Actual compensation depends on experience, location, and other factors.
