Job Description

The Training and Development Coordinator demonstrates knowledge in scheduling training and development programs for the organization. This role involves assisting with the training programs that align with the organization’s goals, representing the organizations mission and values, and leveraging advanced instructional design techniques and technologies. This role requires an individual with strong communication skills, people skills, and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of HR practices, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other HR professionals and University leadership. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage training calendars, including booking venues, technology set up, arranging materials, and coordinating with vendors and trainers. Collaborate with trainers, instructional designers and other HR team members to ensure training programs meet organizational goals. Assist in analyzing training needs and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements. Support virtual and in-person training sessions for employees across the organization, stay abreast in training methods and learning styles that help meet organizational needs. Assist in the usage of digital platforms such as, but are not limited to, Microsoft Bookings, Canva, Canvas, and Articulate. Maintain an innovative and adaptable attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and development. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner. Aligns with training and developments strategic plan of implementing a biblical worldview to university training. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission and values. All other duties assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not require supervision of other employees. QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS: Education and Experience: 1-2 years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Communication, Project Management or a related field. Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, coordinating resources, and ensuring deadlines are met. Experience in roles requiring strong customer service skills, such as responding to faculty and staff needs, coordinating with vendors, or providing support to diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in using digital platforms and tools commonly used in training and development, such as Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, PowerPoint, and Bookings), Canva for designing training materials, Canvas for learning management, and Articulate for e-learning content creation. Experience in maintaining records, managing databases, and using software tools to track and analyze data related to training activities, attendance, and program evaluations. Experience supporting both virtual and in-person training sessions, including setting up technology, preparing materials, and troubleshooting technical issues. ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information, coordinate with vendors and trainers, and collaborate with team members across the organization. Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate scheduling, documentation, and coordination of training logistics and materials. Competency in using various digital tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Bookings, Canva, Canvas, Articulate) to support training logistics, content creation, and virtual training delivery. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle unexpected challenges, and remain flexible in a dynamic environment. A service-minded approach to supporting faculty, staff, and other internal stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain detailed records of training activities, attendance, and assessments. Willingness to stay current with the latest trends and best practices in training and development to enhance program effectiveness. Ability to analyze data from training assessments and feedback to make informed decisions and continuously improve training offerings. Problem Solving: Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities: May be required to travel local and campus locations. May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work Environment: The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Driving Requirements: If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
